Bathing Water Quality results 21st July

Results for samples taken 21st July. Poor: Claremont beach, Front Strand beach, Balbriggan, Rush North beach and Malahide beach Good: Donabate, Excellent – remaining beaches but prior warning notices remain in place where they haven't been replaced by Do Not Swim Prohibitions. 

Bathing water table 24 July 2025

Results of testing on July 21st have been received as follows:

Poor: Claremont beach, Front Strand beach, Balbriggan, Rush North beach and Malahide beach – Prohibition (Do not swim) notices replace Prior Warnings at these beaches 

Good: Donabate – resample to be arranged

Excellent – remaining beaches - but prior warning notices remain in place unless replaced by Do Not Swim Notices. 

Following consultation with the HSE a decision to replace prior warning notices at Loughshinny beach and Velvet Strand beach, Portmarnock with Prohibition (Do not Swim) Notices following reported overflow incidents by Uisce Eireann following the heavy rainfall on 21/7/25 (Orange rainfall warning in place).  Resamples to be arranged.

Members of the public can check for water quality at any of the monitored bathing waters in Ireland in advance by accessing the EPA website at www.beaches.ie or by checking the notice board at the entrance to each beach.
