Recycled Christmas Tree Decoration Competition
Calling all creative eco-warriors and festive artists.
Get ready to deck the halls with decorations that are not only dazzling but planet-friendly too. We’re inviting primary school students to take part in a magical challenge, to create a Christmas tree decoration using recycled materials. Think toilet roll tubes, scrap fabric, old buttons, bottle caps, anything you can rescue from the recycling bin and turn into a festive masterpiece. Let your imagination run wild.
Each school can only submit ONE decoration per category (3 in total) to represent them in the competition.
The decoration should be made entirely from recycled materials and be able to hang on a Christmas tree. The submission must include a short description of the materials used, along with the attached application form and a label attached to it with the school name and age category entering for. Please note incomplete entries will not qualify.
Three categories to enter:
- Junior Infants – 1st Class
- 2nd – 4th Class
- 5th – 6th Class
Prizes:
There will be 10 winners in total: 3 from each category and 1 winner for the most sustainable decoration. The winners will win a bundle of books, a selection of Sherkin Island Marine Station colouring books, some National Biodiversity Centre biodiversity swatches, GIY grow boxes for their school and the winning decorations will adorn the Christmas Tree in the atrium of County Hall, Swords.
