Five projects in Fingal shortlisted for Excellence in Local Government Awards 2025

Fingal County Council has been shortlisted in several categories for this year’s Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards, including initiatives in Age Friendly, Health & Wellbeing, and Supporting Sustainable Communities.


This year, Chambers Ireland received a record number of applications for these awards, with Fingal receiving nominations for the following:
•    Howth Maritime & Seafood Festival (Festival of the Year)
•    Promotion of Affordable Housing scheme (Communications)
•    Fingal Sports Festival (Health & Wellbeing)
•    Sheltered Housing at Monastery Court, Lusk (Age Friendly Initiative)
•    Meakstown Community Centre and Bloom Community Garden (Supporting Sustainable Communities)


Mayor of Fingal, Cllr. Tom O’Leary, commented "It is brilliant to see all these wonderful projects and events get the recognition they deserve. The Fingal Team are ambitious and innovative. The awards are a huge honour and are an excellent opportunity to showcase and celebrate everything Fingal has to offer. Welcoming the recognition by Chambers Ireland, Deputy Chief Executive, Ethna Felten said “I am thrilled to once again see many of our projects recognised on a national scale, particularly when against such strong competition across the country. It is a testament to the hard-working staff of the council, and I want to congratulate everyone involved. It is a fantastic achievement”.


The annual awards, which are sponsored by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, aim to acknowledge and celebrate the work being carried out by Local Authorities all over Ireland.
