Work set to begin on major upgrade for Corduff Park
A €2m upgrade in Corduff will deliver a high-quality public park with sports and play facilities, including a new all-weather football pitch
The official commencement of works on a raft of new facilities for Corduff Park has been marked with a sod turning ceremony in Dublin 15. Fingal County Council are investing over €2m in the project to help transform the 6.6-hectare park into a modern, inclusive space for the local community.
Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Tom O’Leary, was joined by Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, Jack Chambers TD; Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, AnnMarie Farrelly; local councillors and TDs; and members of the Corduff community.
The Corduff Park Improvement Works will develop a high-quality public park including sports and play facilities, pollinator friendly landscape features, community garden upgrade and active and passive recreational amenities. The project includes upgrading the all-weather football pitch with new fencing, lighting, and drainage, along with a Hill Fort themed playground, improved footpaths and enhanced park boundaries.
It also adds 83 bicycle parking spaces, outdoor exercise equipment, and improvements to the existing grass football pitch and community garden. A 34-space car park, including three disabled parking bays and four EV ready charging bays is also included, along with additional provision for motorbikes.
Speaking at the sod turning ceremony, Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Tom O’Leary said: “I am delighted to see work officially beginning here at Corduff Park. These upgrades will be of huge benefit to the local community, who I want to commend for their work in helping get this project underway. This investment reflects our commitment to creating vibrant, sustainable communities where people of all ages can come together, stay active, and enjoy the outdoors.”
Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, Jack Chambers TD added: “This project is a fantastic example of community advocacy in action. The development of an all-weather pitch will help transform sport in Corduff and create a first-class community facility. Investments like this have a real impact on driving sport and physical activity, and this collaborative approach shows what can be achieved when we listen to and work with communities.”
The Corduff Park area has a range of local stakeholders including Corduff Sports Centre, Corduff F.C., Corduff Childcare Creche, local schools, scout group, Foroige and community gardeners. There will also be over 40 new trees planted in the park.

The full-size all-weather pitch and other essential upgrades across the park will be well-utilised and we look forward to being able to use the park for generations to come.”
Director of Planning and Strategic Infrastructure at Fingal County Council, Matthew McAleese said: “Today marks an exciting milestone for the Corduff community as we officially break ground on these major new upgrades. This project will deliver a modern, inclusive space, reflecting Fingal’s commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities, supporting local clubs like Corduff F.C. and creating a vibrant park for families and residents to enjoy.”
The design team was led by Donnachadh O’Brien & Associates engineers with Sole Sports & Leisure Ltd appointed as works contractor. Work on the new upgrades is scheduled to be completed by Q3 2026.
