Howth Sea Angling Club

Howth Sea Angling Club are delighted to participate once again in this year’s festival, with support from Fingal County Council.

We would like to outline some of the events we plan to organise, subject to change.

  • Sea Life Display: We plan to showcase several large aquariums containing sea fish and shellfish (e.g., crabs and lobsters), caught by our members in the days leading up to the event. Each tank will be fitted with aerators to ensure the health and safety of the fish. All fish will be returned to the sea following the festival.
  • Children’s Face Painting: A professional face painter will be hired. They will be based outside our clubhouse (15A West Pier), or indoors in case of inclement weather. The face painting theme will reflect a nautical and marine focus.
  • Sea Angling Exhibition: An exhibition of sea angling equipment and tackle will be set up upstairs in the clubhouse. Signage will be placed outside to attract visitors. The exhibit will also feature photographs of past shore and boat angling outings, highlighting the history and community of our club. Members will be present to engage with attendees and explain the displays.
  • Guest Speaker Presentations: At scheduled times during the weekend, we intend to host a guest speaker—ideally a former Irish sea angling champion—who will give talks on topics such as recreational fishing in Ireland, fish stock sustainability, and the safe handling and release of fish. These talks will take place alongside the angling exhibition.
