Do Not Swim Notice at Velvet Strand Beach, Portmarnock Lifted

Please be advised that the “Do Not Swim” Prohibition notice at Velvet Strand Portmarnock has been lifted today, 19th September.

The result of the bathing water sample collected on 17th September, 2025 at Velvet Strand beach, Portmarnock has met the standard for “excellent” water quality.

Following consultation with the HSE the Prohibition Notice at the beach can now be lifted.

Members of the public can check for water quality at any of the monitored bathing waters in Ireland in advance by accessing the EPA website at www.beaches.ie or by checking the notice board at the entrance to each beach.
