Ongar Barnhill Road
The Ongar to Barnhill Road will be constructed south of Ongar and will provide improved access to Barnhill LAP (Local Area Plan) lands, where circa 1200 new homes will be built in the coming years.
The 1.9kms of road will include the construction of a new bridge over the Clonsilla-M3 Parkway rail spur, 1km of dual carriageway road embankment, 0.9km of single carriageway, 2 new crossroads with traffic lights and 3 new roundabouts.8
Contractor BAM Civil Ltd will carry out this work on behalf of Fingal County Council with a projected completion date in late 2025.

- Project completion projected for Q2 2025.
- Barberstown Lane South realignment for completion projected for Q4 2024.
- Extinguishment for Right of Way consultation in progress for Barberstown Lane North and Barberstown Lane South.
- Key construction activity milestones completed to date:
- Site construction compound at Barberstown Lane North, site accesses and haul roads established.
- Bridge Crossing over railway – South Abutment and Piers constructed.
- Culvert construction works underway for stream diversion North of Barberstown Lane South.
- Some advance utility diversion works completed.

Providing Sustainable Transport into the Future
The Ongar to Barnhill Road will provide a route for walking, cycling and travel by road.
The route will not only link the two local areas together for better access to schools, homes, amenities and shopping. It will also link to the Royal Canal Greenway and to the Damastown Clonsilla Cycle Route, forming an important part of the Greater Dublin Area (GDA) Cycle Network.

Sod Turning
The sod was officially turned on the project by Mayor of Fingal, Councillor Adrian Henchy, on Friday 8 September 2023.
