Even the weather couldn't stop the Let's Play Rush team from delivering some Halloween fun last Saturday as the annual Halloween themed event took place in Kenure Park. Despite the weather conditions, spirits were high as children and adults alike enjoyed an afternoon packed with outdoor games, laughter and festive entertainment.
Organised by the Let’s Play Rush team — made up of dedicated members from Rush Tidy Towns, Rush Community Council, the 38th Rush Scout Group, Fingal County Council representatives, and local councillors — the event was a true community collaboration celebrating the importance of outdoor play.
Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Tony Murphy, praised the success of the event, saying:
“Events like this are important as they bring so many families together, here, right in the centre of the town, in what is a great public amenity. It highlights the importance of community spirit and local collaboration. I’d like to commend the volunteers, community groups, and Fingal County Council for their work in developing such an inclusive event for everyone to enjoy.”
Families took part in a range of activities including carnival-style games, face painting, and interactive performances. The highlight of the afternoon was a fantastic performace by the pipe band that added energy and excitement to the celebrations.
The atmosphere in Kenure Park was electric, filled with laughter, creativity, and a strong sense of community pride. The wind and rain couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of attendees, who came together to celebrate the season in true Rush style.
Brendan O’Reilly, spokesperson for Let’s Play Rush, said:
“We’re thrilled to see so many people brave the weather and come out to enjoy the Halloween celebrations. The continued support from Fingal County Council, local volunteers, and residents helps make these events possible, showcasing the amazing community spirit we have here in Rush.”
Let's Play Rush originated from the EU URBACT Playful Paradigm programme and continues to build on its vision of creating healthier, more inclusive and connected communities through play, physical activity and community participation.
