Call for Fingal Choirs – Fingal Voices

Fingal County Council Arts Office is inviting choirs of all levels based in Fingal to participate in
Fingal Voices — an ambitious new collaborative choral project taking place from Autumn 2026 to 2027 in partnership with the Contemporary Music Centre Ireland. The project will bring together a network of choirs, singers, composers and creative
collaborators to develop a new large-scale, experimentally conceived choral work, culminating in an immersive public performance at Culture House, Swords, as part of its official opening in 2027. 

Over a 12 month period participating choirs will work directly with a commissioned composer and professional choral director through a series of workshops and collaborative creative sessions to contribute to the development of this new choral work and to rehearse for the public performance. The project is rooted in openness, experimentation, shared learning and community participation.

What is involved?

Participating choirs will be asked to:
● Commit to engaging with the project from approximately Autumn 2026 – Autumn 2027
● Participate in a series of collaborative workshops and rehearsals throughout the year
● Be open to creative experimentation and collaborative devising processes
● Work alongside other choirs and community singers from across Fingal
● Take part in the final immersive public performance at Culture House, Swords
The anticipated commitment is approximately:
● 4–6 workshops/rehearsals across the residency period
● Independent choir rehearsal time to support learning material
● Participation in final rehearsals and performance dates in 2027
No previous experience with contemporary or experimental music is required, curiosity,
openness and enthusiasm for collaboration are most important.

Choir Support
Each participating choir will receive a fee of €500 in recognition of their time and commitment to the project.

● Community choirs
● Amateur choirs
● Intergenerational choirs
● Inclusive and socially engaged singing groups
● Workplace choirs
● School choirs
● Choirs of all musical backgrounds and experience levels based in Fingal

● Name of choir or singing group
● Approximate membership number.
● A little about the choir’s remit, musical repertoire and performance experience
