Council commences public consultation on new development of 21 homes in Fortlawn
Fingal County Council has commenced public consultation on its proposal to construct 21 new homes at Fortlawn in Blanchardstown.
The scheme will deliver additional homes within the community, including age-friendly housing designed for older persons who can no longer remain in their current homes but wish to stay connected to their local area. It also incorporates measures to address concerns about ongoing anti-social behaviour, fostering a safer and more inclusive environment for all.
The project will involve the construction of seven two-storey terraced houses, 12 apartments and two semi-detached houses. The redevelopment will also replace 4 older council houses with modern homes, delivering a net gain of 17 additional units for the Fortlawn area. It is proposed that the scheme will be implemented on a phased basis to minimise impacts on existing residents.
This scheme has been developed to comply with the current planning and funding guidelines and the County Development Plan.
Residents and other stakeholders are invited to submit their opinions on the proposal through the Fingal County Council Consultation Portal, https://consult.fingal.ie. This deadline for submissions and observations is January 5, 2026. The plans and particulars of the proposed development are available on the portal and can also be viewed at Civic Offices, Blanchardstown or County Hall, Swords until December 10.
Following the receipt of submissions and observations the proposal will be brought back to the Blanchardstown-Mulhuddart/Castleknock/Ongar Area Committee on February 5 prior to the seeking of approval for the project, in accordance with Part XI of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) and Part VIII of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), from the full Council on February 9.
