Communities Get Moving Fund 2022 Launched

Fingal County Council’s Sports Office through the Sport Ireland COVID-19 Fund are seeking applications from Voluntary Community Organisations who have registered with the Fingal Community County Register (PPN) and whose main focus is NOT sport or physical activity and are working with people in the Fingal administrative area. 

Communities Get Moving Fund aims to encourage community groups (adults) to avail of physical activity classes ie exercise/dance class/sporting activity opportunities in their local community centre or sports clubs and provide funding towards the costs associated with signing up for such activity. Before applying groups should liaise with their local community centre or sports club and investigate the physical activity opportunities available to them in the locality.

Mayor of Fingal Cllr Seána Ó Rodaigh commented: "Increased physical activity is of huge benefit to our physical, mental and social wellbeing and this innovative funding scheme will provide welcome new opportunities for this within the Fingal community."

It will help create a link between traditional non-sports focused community organisations and physical activity opportunities and we hope to encourage greater activity within Fingal’s Community Centres.”

A max of €1,200 per community organisation is available with only one application per organisation allowed and equipment purchase is not included in this funding. Successful applications will receive 50% paid up front with the remaining 50% paid on completion of the agreed activity. Groups/individuals must ensure they have adequate insurance cover to participate in PA/sports events.
