This International Women’s Day we’re celebrating the achievements of the women of Fingal County Council. Meet Communications Officer Maggie Lau.

In their 40-year career, Foster & Allen have released over 30 albums. Along with ‘A Bunch of Thyme’, entering the Irish chart in 1979 and becoming their first No. 1 single, ‘Maggie’ became a No. 1 in New Zealand for four weeks, making the two songs their signature tunes. 

Moon Woke Me Up Nine times. It was still 4am.  So I built a rocket with my friends. And went on a journey that never ends.  Come up and away with us. Come and play with us. Come build a rocket that will BLAST OFF and take us on a magical journey to the moon. All the way, up there, in outer space.  I wonder if it smells of cheese? I wonder if it will make me sneeze? Let’s find out! 

Coolmine Community School‘s students are back and promise to entertain you again this season. Prepare to be dazzled by their musical, dance and dramatic abilities. This is the 19th year Coolmine Community School has staged the Feast of Talent show in Draíocht and it promises to be a night not to be missed. 

Our Slow Sessions are aimed towards adult musicians who are learning an instrument and are at a stage where they wish to take part in a relaxed informal traditional music session. These sessions aim to encourage the participants to learn a repertoire of new tunes while playing with other musicians at slow to moderate tempos.

More solar bins will be installed around the streets of Swords, Balbriggan, Castleknock and Mulhuddart after Fingal County Council confirmed it had ordered 150 of the compactable smart bins to help keep the towns litter free and drive down carbon emissions. 

The public consultation has now closed to submissions. In excess of 1,300 submissions were received via post, email and the online consultation portal.

Suitable for beginners and experienced adults and teenagers (aged 15+) Classes are structured informally, on a one to one basis, in the students preferred medium; Watercolour, Oil, Acrylic, Pastel etc. and choosing their own subject, i.e. Landscape, Seascape, Figurative, etc.

Fingal County Council will be marking International Women’s Day 2022 across all their digital platforms and in a series of in person events. Fingal County Council’s Community and Sports Office are hosting a range of initiatives across Fingal to celebrate women's achievements and increase visibility, while calling out gender inequality.
