In Fingal, the Council has been backed by investment of at least €50 million from HIIF for four strategic projects in the region, with the projects expected to support nearly 5000 homes in the short term and ultimately 24,000 new homes over the coming years. 

The proposed “Dunsink City Quarter” is centred around eight development areas including three residential neighbourhoods: Dunsink East, Dunsink Central, and Dunsink West. A Cultural Quarter centred on Dunsink Observatory as well as a new Regional Park and Recreational Hub on the former landfill are also included.

Fingal County Council has been awarded two Blue Flags and a Green Coast Award for 2026, reaffirming the county’s coastline as one of Ireland’s cleanest, safest and best-managed as the summer bathing season gets underway.

Groups in Fingal are now invited to submit Expressions of Interest for the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) 2026/2027.

Nine of the identified beaches; Balbriggan Front Strand, Skerries South Beach, Loughshinny, Rush North, Rush South, Portrane the Brook, Donabate Balcarrick, Portmarnock Velvet Strand and Burrow Beaches recorded excellent results from the  bathing water quality samples taken on 15.06.2026

Following consultation with the HSE, the Do Not Swim notice issued for Malahide beach on 8 June has been extended.

A ‘Do Not Swim’ notice has been issued for Claremont Beach due to elevated baterical count from sample taken. 

Key works will shortly commence on the Portrane Road Enhancement Project, a major investment aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety, improving accessibility and raising the overall standard of the road network in the Donabate area. 

Bathing water sample results returned this morning for Rush North and South beaches confirms that the water quality at both beaches are Excellent
