Estuary Traffic Signal Sequencing Update
The new traffic lights at the Estuary became operational on Wednesday 14th October.
Fingal County Council are aware of the delays experienced during the first days of operation and appreciate the difficulties this caused, particularly for commuters, school traffic, public transport users and local residents.
Following observations from the public and on-site, as well as a review of traffic conditions during peak times, adjustments were made to the traffic signal sequencing at Estuary. The revised signal timings provide a more balanced allocation of green time across the various traffic movements, helping to improve junction efficiency. These changes were implemented this morning, Friday 16th October and traffic conditions have shown a noticeable improvement, with traffic moving more efficiently through the junction, particularly during peak periods.
As with any newly commissioned signal-controlled junction of this scale, a period of monitoring and fine-tuning is expected to ensure that the traffic management arrangements operate as effectively as possible. Fingal County Council will continue to closely monitor traffic performance at the junction and, where necessary, make further adjustments to the signal timings to optimise traffic flow and minimise delays.
Thank you for your patience.
