Writing 3.0

Writing 3.0 initially evolved from the well established ‘Finscéal: A Writer's Trail of Fingal‚' an initiative for writers and readers throughout Fingal since 2005. The shift to Writing 3.0 in 2010 conceptualised the writing process in the twenty-first century; how it evolves from the blank page across a range of technologies associated with creativity that potentially reaches vast audiences.

Year of Illustration

Fingal County Council's Arts Office, Children's Books Ireland (CBI) and Laureate na nOg Niamh Sharkey present Fingal's Year of Illustration 2013.  This collaboration will see a series of events throughout Fingal in 2013 where children can flex their creative abilities in a wide range of workshops, monster drawing sessions and other arts activities.
Events are free and no booking is required.

Room 13 Inquiry Film Premiere & Website Launch

Film Premiere and Website Launch of Room 13 Inquiry on Tuesday 20th of June at 12 noon in Draíocht. 

Room 13 Inquiry is a dynamic investigation into the potential of shared art studio spaces in school settings. It has evolved in two primary schools in Fingal since its inception in 2014 and includes the provision of a dedicated art studio space, an artist in residence and a series of exhibition and artists' studio visits for the students.

Resort Revelations Case Study II, Portrane

In 2014 a selection of artists, curators and academics took up residency in Lynder's Mobile Home Park, Portrane. Resort Residency Case Study I invited the artists to explore the history, geography and community as guests on the Donabate/Portrane Peninsula.

In 2015 Resort Residency becomes Resort Revelations as a selection of former artist resident’s return to make visible their experiences as part of the annual Bleeding Pig Festival in Portrane

Thursday 10th September
Gareth Kennedy- The Origins and Uses of Round Towers 
A straw bale round tower will be created by Gareth Kennedy in close collaboration with Master Craftsman Eoin Donnelly in the weeks leading up to the festival, a “folk folly” of sorts this temporary 12m tower will join the towers of the Portrane skyline and will be activated by a series of performances and events including Mumming and Tower Singing Circle Performances. The tower will be created on site at the Chinkwell field with the help of members from the Donabate/Portrane area.

The inauguration of the tower and launch of the festival will be conducted by
Councillor David O’Connor, Mayor of Fingal

Thursday 10th September at 6.30pm
Tower Field/Chinkwell Field, Portrane, Performances by Fingal Mummers and the Tower Singing Circle.Meet at Tower Bay Car park

Friday 11th September
Sean Taylor will conduct an Acouscenic Soundwalk using the  principles of mindfulness and meditation; participants will be invited to experience the landscape of the peninsula in a unique and thoughtful way.

A History of Mumming in North Dublin and screenings of Roger Lamb's famous historical documentary footage

Fiona Hallinan & Kate Strain – How to Make Sloke

A performance cookery demonstration presented by Fiona Hallinan and Kate Strain. Through alchemy, comedy and food preparation, they’ll stage an abridged account of their experience in Portane,Featuring The Seaweed War, Ulva umbilicus (aka sea lettuce), the five Liams, and the eponymous Sloke.
