Active Travel in Fingal Towns & Villages

As the towns and villages of Fingal grow and develop, we continue to work to build Active Travel into the fabric of residents and visitors lives. Community connections are key and Fingal County Council works to nurture excellent links with communities through clubs, schools, community groups and residents associations.

Towns and villages across Fingal are identified for Active Travel upgrades based on the potential for successful infrastructure installation and adoption. There are several current projects underway including:

Gearing up for training

Gearing Up for Training

The “Gearing up for Training” initiative is designed to provide professional theory and practical cycle training by the cycle right approved Irish Centre for Cycling to GAA clubs. This training will provide children with the necessary skills, road safety awareness and confidence to cycle to their clubhouse for training and home games, creating a healthier, more sustainable method of transport, while freeing up car parking spaces at the club for travelling teams on match days.

With the majority of players and club members living within close proximity to their clubs, the aim of the initiative is to encourage people to choose to cycle to their home games and training sessions. It is great to have the Irish Centre for cycling based in Fingal who can deliver such training.”
