Fingal County Council Arts Office is pleased to invite applications for the Loughshinny Boathouse Studio Award, a studio residency award open to professional visual artist(s) working in any medium. This opportunity offers an award of €20,000 and a fully funded studio for a nine-month period, commencing in September 2025. 

Join Dr. Kevin Lynch from the University of Galway’s Geography Department as he takes us on a fascinating walk along Balbriggan Beach on Ireland’s east coast.

We are delighted to showcase Fingal County Council again this year at the Flavours of Fingal Show in Newbridge House, Donabate on July 5th and 6th from 11-6pm. 

This exciting programme is designed to offer a holistic filmmaking education that addresses both technical skills and the nuanced approach needed when working with actors, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), fostering an environment of creativity and collaboration. 

This project aims to preserve and elevate Fingal’s rich textile manufacturing legacy through a collaborative arts and local heritage initiative. A group of artists will create original artworks inspired by the area's history, and also a number of unique artefacts originating from the Smyth & Co. hosiery factory, formerly based in Balbriggan. These artefacts serve as direct witnesses to Balbriggan's vibrant social history spanning two centuries, from 1780 to 1980.
