Saturday is market day this summer in Fingal. Fingal Food Markets every week from July-September 2025

Welcome to Fingal’s ninth annual Festival of History which was launched by the Deputy Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Gráinne Maguire, on Monday 25 August.  The festival will run from Monday 29th September to Saturday 11th October 2025 throughout our library branches.  This year we have incorporated 13 exciting talks plus a heritage tour into our programme.  Topics included cover Loreto Convent Balbriggan, Luttrellstown Castle, A culinary experience at Newbridge House and the history of Bremore Graveyard.  Household names such as Myles Dungan (Land and the Irish Free State 1922-39), Turtle Bunbury (Vanishing Ireland) and Flor MacCarthy (From Ireland to the Stars) will also speak.  The fascinating lives covered in the “Bad Bridget” podcast and book will be recounted in a lively discussion by the authors Dr Elaine Farrell and Dr Leanne McCormack, facilitated by Dr Derville Murphy.

There was excellent news for Fingal this week with the areas around Skerries and Portmarnock beaches awarded the highest ranking by the Irish Business’ Against Litter (IBAL) group, making

Fingal County Council Arts Office, in partnership with MART Studios and gallery announce the 2025-2026 MART Studio graduate residency. This opportunity aims to support the professional development of recent graduates from Fingal County Council with a fully funded studio space over 12 months beginning in January 2026.

The eagerly awaited re-opening of the Hartstown Community Centre is one step closer following the official handover of the facility to Fingal County Council today (Friday).

Now in its fourth year, the Fingal Magic of Stories Festival has firmly established itself as one of Ireland’s premier celebrations of children’s literature. Fingal Libraries will once again build on the success of previous years to deliver a fun-filled day of author visits and creative activities at Swords Castle on Saturday, 27th September.
