Special meeting for election of President of Ireland

With the next presidential election to take place in October, Fingal County Council will hold a Special Meeting to consider the nomination of candidates on Friday 12 September 2025.

A Special Meeting will be held this Friday (12 September 2025) at 5.00pm to consider nominations of candidates for the upcoming Presidential election.

The meeting is part of the formal nomination process, which allows candidates to be nominated either by 20 Oireachtas members or by at least four local authorities. The Presidential Election is set for Friday, 24 October 2025, with nominations closing at noon on 24 September. 

Anyone seeking Fingal County Council’s presidential nomination must first secure the support of four elected members before they can address the Special Meeting on 12 September.
