Fingal Sports Office is a member of Sport Ireland’s Network of Local Sports Partnerships.

We support sports by delivering innovative programmes, providing training, leading and raising the profile of sport in the County while increasing participation in sport and physical activity across the County for all. 

Active Together Local Sport and Physical Activity Plan 2024-29

We have a team of sports officers who provide community support to community groups, clubs, schools and business groups. We aim to create lifelong patterns of involvement in sport and physical activity. We do this by prioritising training and development for Sports volunteers and staff and supporting the development of a network of accessible, high-quality facilities to meet the needs of Fingal’s growing communities. Fingal Sports Leadership Programme

The Fingal Sports Leadership Programme is aimed at students 16-18 years old who are interested in a career in the sports and fitness industry. The initiative requires successful applicants to complete 4 compulsory modules AND 20 hours in total of Sport Specific work experience with Fingal Sports NGB partners. Students will then qualify for a fully funded and accredited Personal Training Coaching Course.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Be involved with 1 or more sports clubs
  • Have an interest in pursuing a career in sport & fitness
  • Be committed to upskilling themselves as sports leaders and volunteers

Places are limited to Fingal residence only, all course qualifications are completed with Fingal Sports Office partners only and work experience must be completed with Fingal Sports Affiliated Clubs. Students must be 16 + years on or before January 31st 2027. 

Coaching Compulsory Modules: Safeguarding Training, Understanding Physical Literacy Training, Disability Awareness Training, Sports First Aid Training

Coaching Elective Modules: Soccer, Rugby, Tennis, Cricket, Swimming, Hockey, GAA, Athletics, Basketball

Fingal Sports Office is committed to supporting local sports clubs by providing funding opportunities for the acquisition of sports equipment. This booklet outlines the available funding categories, eligibility criteria, application process, and guidelines to assist clubs in enhancing their equipment and promoting sports participation within the community.

 

Funding Categories
2026 Fingal Sports Equipment Grants (1).png
Essential Sports Equipment Grant

Maximum Funding Available: Up to €1,500

Purpose: To help clubs purchase essential sports equipment needed for daily training and activities.

Note: Clubs can apply for this grant annually.

Large Sports Equipment Grant

Maximum Funding Available: Up to €4,000

Purpose: To assist clubs in acquiring larger equipment or embarking on projects that demand a significant investment.

Note: Clubs can apply for this grant every two years. Any item purchased must be over €500 each to qualify for this funding.

Sports Activity Grant

Maximum Funding Available: Up to €500

Purpose: To assist clubs in delivering an activity or event such as a sports blitz or family fun day that is open to anyone in the community to attend/participate.

Clubs must ensure they have the adequate insurance cover to participate in the associated events.
