Status: Yellow Wind warning for Ireland
Storm Dave will bring very strong southerly winds, veering westerly by the evening with severe gusts and coastal gales.
Possible impacts:
· Some fallen trees, branches
· Wave overtopping
· Difficult traveling conditions
· Debris, loose objects displaced
Valid: 13:00 Saturday 04/04/2026 to 02:00 Sunday 05/04/2026
• Drive to anticipate strong gusts and other hazards such as falling/fallen trees. High-sided vehicles and motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable to strong winds – slow down and give extra space to pedestrians and cyclists.
• Coastal areas may experience wave overtopping, storm surge, and tidal flooding, especially in low-lying locations. Keep away from coastal edges, harbours, piers and low-lying promenades during high tide. The Irish Coast Guard advice remains: “Stay Back, Stay High, Stay Dry.”
• Strong onshore westerly to southerly winds combined with high waves may lead to wave overtopping and flooding in low-lying and exposed coastal areas.
• High astronomical tides (Spring Tides) coinciding with storm surge and persistent onshore winds will further increase the risk of coastal flooding.
• A High Tide Advisory will come into effect Saturday, for Atlantic and southern coastal counties.
• Stay updated via Met Éireann’s website, app and social media channels. see www.met.ie

Easter water safety appeal from the Irish Coast Guard, Water Safety Ireland and RNLI highlights recreational craft
· Ahead of the Easter weekend, the Irish Coast Guard, RNLI and Water Safety Ireland are appealing for people to stay safe when they visit the coast or plan an activity, on or near the water.
· Easter is traditionally the time when many sailors and motorboat users take their craft out of storage and begin their season.
· Water temperatures at this time of year are still relatively cold and water users should always be aware of the risk of cold-water shock, when entering the water.
· Taking some simple advice and being prepared, can mean the difference between a great day out or having to call for assistance.
