Sport in Fingal does more than keep us active; it brings neighbours together, builds friendships, and inspires pride across the county. To celebrate the dedication that makes all this possible, Fingal County Council is inviting nominations for the Sports Club Volunteer and Sports Clubs of the Year Awards, recognising the people and organisations that keep sport at the heart of our communities.

The awards ceremony, hosted by the Fingal Sport Office, will take place on Monday, 26th January 2026 at the Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport, where volunteers and clubs will gather for a special evening dedicated to acknowledging their invaluable role in supporting and advancing local sport.

Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Tom O’Leary said: “These awards are a celebration of the volunteers and clubs whose work forms the heartbeat of sport in Fingal. Their commitment ensures that individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can experience the benefits that sport provides.”

Across Ireland, an estimated 450,000 volunteers give their time every week to support sports clubs, making an immeasurable impact on participation, wellbeing, inclusion, and community spirit. The Sports Volunteer Awards shine a spotlight on these unsung heroes, inviting clubs to nominate one individual whose dedication, leadership, and generosity truly embody the spirit of volunteering.

In parallel, the Sports Clubs of the Year Awards will highlight clubs who have demonstrated excellence throughout 2025 across three areas:

·   Green Club of the Year: recognising environmental sustainability and climate-conscious action

·   Club of the Year – honouring excellence in engagement, governance, and community impact.

·   Sports Inclusion Club of the Year – celebrating inclusive pathways and accessible participation opportunities.

Prize packages will include a €750 sports equipment voucher for winning clubs, helping to support their ongoing development and growth.

Chair of the Fingal Sports Partnership, Cllr Tom Kitt added: “Every year we witness inspiring stories of leadership, inclusion, and community impact throughout Fingal. These awards provide a platform to showcase the incredible work taking place across our clubs — work that deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated.”
