Fingal Residents Invited to Help Shape Future Community Safety Priorities

Fingal County Council is calling on residents, community groups, voluntary organisations, businesses and local stakeholders to have their say on the safety issues that matter most in their communities through a new Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) survey and a series of public engagement events.

The online survey, which has launched today, 13 October, and will remain open for five weeks, will gather feedback from people living and working across Fingal. The findings will help to inform future community safety priorities and actions within the county.

The surveys form part of the work of the Local Community Safety Partnerships, a new Government initiative established under the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024, replacing the former Joint Policing Committee structures. LCSP bring together residents, community and voluntary groups, elected councillors, and statutory agencies to work collaboratively to identify local concerns and develop practical solutions to improve community wellbeing and safety.

Members of the public are also invited to attend upcoming LCSP public meetings, where they will have an opportunity to discuss local safety issues, contribute ideas and engage directly with partnership members.

Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Tony Murphy, encouraged residents to take part in the survey and public meetings, as he stated: "The Local Community Safety Partnerships provide an important opportunity for people to have a direct say in shaping the future safety of their communities. I would encourage everyone living, working or studying in Fingal to participate in the survey and attend the public meetings. Local knowledge and lived experience are invaluable in helping us identify safety priorities and build stronger, safer and more connected communities."

Sinead Murphy, Director of Services for Operations, noted how community participation would be central to the success of the initiative, saying: "Creating safe, inclusive and welcoming communities requires collaboration and engagement. These surveys and public meetings will help us better understand local concerns, identify emerging safety issues and ensure that the voices of residents help inform the actions and initiatives delivered through the Local Community Safety Partnerships."
