Shine A Light for Women - Millennium Park 8th March 2023

Fingal County Council are proud to bring Shine A Light for Women to Dublin 15 this International Women’s Day, March 8th 2023. This is the second year of this initiative, which sees our Sports Office joining together with the Community Office in delivering this important awareness event. The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is ‘Embracing Equity.’

Fingal Thatch Project and Report

The Fingal Thatch Project 2022 was designed to capture and preserve the story of thatch in Fingal for future generations, from the thatched dwellings past and present to those who lived in them and all the traditions associated with thatch in Fingal. Through videos and a Storymap, the Fingal Thatch Project also aims to share the thatcher’s and communities memories, photos and documentation relating to this particular vernacular heritage.

New Artworks at The Banks, Balbriggan by local artist Dave West

Fingal County Council is delighted to announce news of a new public artwork for Balbriggan. The work titled “Wish you Were Here” by local artist Dave West has now been installed at the prominent Banks site at Balbriggan Harbour and was officially launched by Mayor of Fingal Cllr Howard Mahony on Tuesday 14, February.

Inclusive Creativity with Prosper Fingal

In 2022, Malahide Library welcomed members of Prosper Fingal to the library to take part in an Inclusive Creativity project funded by Creative Ireland. Prosper Fingal supports adults with an intellectual disability. This year, Malahide Library will continue the Inclusive Creativity partnership with Prosper Fingal and the project will branch out to two new locations, Rush Library and Skerries Libraries

The Fingal Libraries World Book Tour 2023 

The Fingal Libraries World Book Tour is a series of workshops by five published Irish children’s authors who will visit Fingal Libraries and schools, and deliver hour-long events for invited audiences of Primary School children. Some of these workshops will be delivered as Gaeilge. This series of events is timed to coincide with the week of World Book Day 2023, which falls on Thursday 2nd March.

Viewpoints touring art exhibition is coming to Fingal Libraries

Fingal Libraries is delighted to host Viewpoints, a touring art exhibition, available through The Glucksman’s Art Library, an innovative approach to sharing art and knowledge driven by the principles of creativity, inclusion and participation.  It will be on view across the Library Branches from January to June 2023
