SportAbility Day 2025 Set to Champion Inclusive Sport
As part of its commitment to ensuring that people with disabilities have equal opportunities to engage, compete, and thrive in sport at all levels, Fingal County Council is proud to support SportAbility Day 2025.
This fantastic event will bring together people from across Dublin for a fun and inclusive day of sport and activities, with opportunities for everyone to try something new.
Delivered alongside the five Local Sports Partnerships of Fingal, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, Dublin City, South Dublin, and Wicklow, the SportAbility programme works to break down barriers to participation. The initiative highlights and promotes disability sport organisations, National Governing Bodies, and local clubs that are leading the way in providing inclusive opportunities and adapted sports for all.
To be held on Saturday, 6th September, from 11am to 3pm, SportAbility Day 2025 will take place at the Sport Ireland Campus in Blanchardstown, a vibrant celebration of inclusive sport without limits. This event is open to people with disabilities, their families, coaches, care staff, or anyone with an interest in inclusive sports and activities.
Some of the National Governing Bodies attending and providing “Come and Try” sessions include Vision Sport Ireland, Special Olympics, IWA-Sport, Tennis Ireland, Swim Ireland, Golf Ireland, Basketball Ireland, Rowing Ireland, Orienteering, Badminton Ireland, GAA, Powerchair Football, Cricket Ireland, Hockey Ireland and Triathlon Ireland. Information stands with sport representatives will also be on site to provide details on inclusive programmes and outline pathways for participation.
“This day is all about showing that sport is for everyone,” says Chloe Farrell, Principal Sports Officer at Fingal County Council. “Whether you play a sport, or are supporting a loved one, SportAbility Day celebrates inclusion and what can happen when everyone is given the opportunity to shine.”
The event promises a welcoming and engaging atmosphere to all, where everyone can discover new ways to connect with others and get active, through sports capability to unite and empower. If you’re a seasoned athlete, an interested newcomer or an encouraging family member, SportAbility Day will be fun for all.
