Applications have been received from professional artists under the Final Artists’ Support Scheme 2026, a long-established funding scheme supporting the development of artistic practice across the county. The scheme originated as a key recommendation of the Council’s Arts Development Plan 2013-2017 and was adopted in 2014. Now in its thirteenth year, it remains a central mechanism through which the Council invests in its professional arts sector.

Demand for the scheme has increased significantly, rising from 37 applications in 2014 to 224 applications in 2026. The total amount sought this year was €944,863.50, representing an increase of 38% since 2022 and highlighting continued growth in both scale and need by professional artists from Fingal.

The scheme supports practicing artists at all stages of their career to undertake travel/professional development, residencies, and the development of new work. Applications were received across a range of artforms including dance, drama, film, literature, music and visual arts, reflecting the diversity of Fingal’s artistic community.

Following the comprehensive eligibility check conducted by the Arts Office, a total of 215 eligible applications were assessed by independent expert assessors across the six artform categories. The assessment process confirmed a high standard of quality and ambition, with demand significantly exceeding the available resources.

Having considered the assessors’ recommendations, 64 awards to a total value of €260,000 have been allocated to the following artists, reflecting the competitive nature of the scheme:
