New guide outlines available resources for Primary Schools in Fingal libraries

Fingal Libraries has produced a guide for teachers, educators, parents and guardians of children in Fingal, highlighting its free resources for primary schools and students.

A guide outlining school resources at Fingal libraries has been launched.

Fingal Libraries has produced a guide for teachers, educators, parents and guardians of children in Fingal, highlighting its free resources for primary schools and students.

Intended to assist educators in integrating library resources into their teaching, the guide shows how to access a wide range of educational materials and support services that can enhance the learning experience for students.

The Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Brian McDonagh, launched the guide in Malahide Library saying: “Libraries have long been an enthusiastic partner to schools in our community. I am delighted to launch this guide showcasing all the free resources they have to offer teachers and students in Fingal”.

Chief Executive of Fingal County Council AnnMarie Farrelly said: “This guide provides a summary of easy-to-use services that can support learning needs in the classroom. It will be a valuable resource for teachers and parents alike”.

The guide covers topics such as using BorrowBox, accessing Britannica Encyclopaedias, utilizing the Lexia Core5 programme, engaging with TumbleMath, and cultivating creativity through coding.

County Librarian Betty Boardman said: “The guide is designed to show how library resources can be used in an educational setting. Headings such as literacy, numeracy, and skill-building illustrate the type of learning opportunities libraries are committed to delivering.”

The guide, Fingal Libraries: Free Resources for Primary Schools, is produced in English and Irish and is available to view and download on the Fingal Libraries website. Hard copies are also available in library branches.
