Major funding boost for Fingal communities as 134 groups receive €268,827

A total of €268,827 in capital funding has been awarded to 134 community groups and organisations across Fingal under the Local Enhancement Programme (LEP) 2026, providing a significant boost to local facilities, equipment and community services.

A total of €268,827 in capital funding has been awarded to 134 community groups and organisations across Fingal under the Local Enhancement Programme (LEP) 2026, providing a significant boost to local facilities, equipment and community services.The programme, administered by the Fingal Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) with support from Fingal County Council, supports community and voluntary organisations in enhancing the services and facilities they provide, particularly in disadvantaged communities across both rural and urban Fingal.

Mayor of Fingal, Councillor Tony Murphy, said: "The Local Enhancement Programme continues to make a real difference to community groups across Fingal. This funding will support groups in improving their facilities and purchasing essential equipment, enabling them to continue delivering valuable services within their communities. The dedication and commitment of volunteers on the ground add enormous value to community life across Fingal and their efforts are greatly appreciated, respected and applauded by Fingal County Council.”

A  number of community gardens have received funding 

Funding will enable groups to undertake small-scale capital projects, upgrade community facilities and purchase essential equipment. These improvements will help increase accessibility, enhance energy efficiency and strengthen organisations’ ability to meet the needs of their communities. Interest in the scheme remained exceptionally strong this year, with 183 applications received from community and voluntary organisations across Fingal. Following a detailed assessment process, 134 groups were approved for funding.

Dara Calleary TD, Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht and Minister for Social Protection, said: “The impact of the Local Enhancement Programme is considerable, and it allows community groups to carry out the invaluable work they do on behalf of others in local areas throughout the country."

T he Local Enhancement Programme continues to play an important role in supporting grassroots organisations, helping them improve local infrastructure, expand services and make a positive impact on the lives of residents throughout Fingal.

Sports clubs, including cricket clubs have gained LEP funding. 

This year's LEP funding will support a diverse range of community-based organisations across Fingal, including sports clubs, youth services, active age groups, disability and health support organisations, Tidy Towns committees, community centres, residents' associations, arts and heritage groups, multicultural organisations and volunteer-led initiatives.

John Quinlivan, Director of Services, ECCD congratulated recipients saying: “I am pleased to see this funding allocated to so many deserving community organisations across Fingal. These groups are at the heart of our communities, providing opportunities for participation, inclusion and wellbeing. The Local Enhancement Programme will help strengthen their capacity to deliver important local services and enhance the facilities that residents rely on.”
