The bathing water quality results for samples collected on 2nd September, 2025 at all identified bathing waters have met the standard of “excellent” water quality.

The bathing water quality results for samples collected on 2nd September, 2025 at all identified bathing waters have met the standard of “excellent” water quality.
In addition, the result for the non-identified bathing water for Malahide beach has also met the standard of “excellent” water quality.
Samples will be taken tomorrow 5th September at Balbriggan and Velvet Strand Portmarnock with results due on Sunday 7th when a decision will be made whether to lift the notices in place: prior warning at Balbriggan beach and Prohibition Notice at Portmarnock.
Ireland’s Eye and Balscadden Bay water quality sampling
Sampling of water quality at Balscadden Bay and Ireland’s Eye began in August 2015. These locations continue to be sampled twice during each bathing season, subject to available resources, but are not part of scheduled monitoring for classification purposes as per Bathing Water Quality Regulations, 2008. The results, including Excellent results for 2025, are provided in Table 1 available at this link
