Investment of €1.72 million approved for New Projects in Rural Dublin

The Mayor of Fingal, Cllr. Eoghan O’Brien, said about the decision: “This significant investment is great news for Fingal and Rural Dublin. It demonstrates strongly that even with our current challenges we continue to move forward and invest for the future and I look forward to seeing the nine approved projects progressing.”

Laurence Ward from the Irish Farmers Association and current Chairperson of the Dublin Rural LEADER Local Action Group welcomed the investment decision: “It is a strong vote of confidence in rural areas during a very challenging time. This decision will benefit many people in the rural areas.’

The online meeting was hosted by Emer O’Gorman, Director of Services for Economic, Enterprise and Tourism Development in Fingal County Council. Commenting on the meeting Emer O’Gorman said that: “This was the first ever meeting of the LEADER Local Action Group online, and it also coincides with the largest ever investment approved at a single meeting. We are very happy with this result for the project promoters”

Declan Ryan, the LAG Manager, thanked the LAG members for their support in approving the projects and said that: “The current LEADER Programme is on target to deliver its full allocated funding to new projects by the end of the year and that there has been no interruption in the delivery of the programme due to Covid-19”

This was reiterated by Eilish Harrington, Chief Executive Officer of Fingal LEADER Partnership who told the meeting that: “The pipeline of new projects seeking approval in the months ahead is very strong and that going forward the LEADER Programme is in a great position to deliver assistance to Enterprises and Communities on the ground in Rural Dublin.”
