FROM IDEAS TO ENTERPRISE: FINGAL STUDENTS BEGIN THEIR ENTREPRENEURIAL JOURNEY

Future entrepreneurs from schools across Fingal gathered at County Hall, Swords, on 16 September for the launch of the Student Enterprise Programme (SEP) 2026/27.

Now entering its 25th year nationally, the Student Enterprise Programme continues to inspire thousands of second-level students to develop business ideas, create products and services, and gain valuable entrepreneurial experience. More than 30,000 students from schools across Ireland are expected to participate in the programme this academic year.

Students from 1st to 6th year will have the opportunity to establish and run their own mini-enterprises, developing valuable skills in innovation, communication, teamwork, marketing and financial management while experiencing first-hand what it takes to build a successful business.

Fingal students have consistently demonstrated strong performance in the competition, with local student entrepreneurs regularly progressing to national finals and showcasing their creativity, ambition and problem-solving abilities. The programme continues to encourage students to think innovatively, recognise opportunities and transform ideas into successful ventures.

The Fingal Student Enterprise Programme is supported by sponsors Keoghs Crisps, Simtech Aviation, One4All and Blanchardstown Centre, whose continued backing helps encourage and celebrate entrepreneurship among young people across the county.

Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Tony Murphy, said: "The Student Enterprise Programme gives young people an opportunity to challenge themselves, work as part of a team and gain experience outside the classroom. It is inspiring to see students from across Fingal bringing energy, creativity and fresh ideas to the programme each year. Initiatives like this help young people realise what they are capable of achieving."

The Student Enterprise Programme is coordinated nationally by the Local Enterprise Offices, supported by Enterprise Ireland and local authorities. It remains Ireland's largest enterprise education initiative for second-level students and continues to play a key role in fostering entrepreneurial talent across the country.
