Fingal County Council is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and motivated individual to join its dynamic Arts Office. The position of Public Art Co-ordinator has been central to the development and delivery of Public Art in Fingal since 2005, under the leadership of Caroline Cowley.
Over the past two decades, Fingal has established itself as a leading commissioner of Public Art, developing a strong policy framework, infrastructure, and a sustained commitment to integrating art within all major capital and strategic programmes across both the public and private sectors.
The continued growth of this work now requires dedicated support and expansion.
Ms Cowley moves into the role of Deputy Arts Officer Public Art where she will continue to manage the strategic direction of Public Art in Fingal, ensuring the ongoing development of innovative and impactful commissioning practices.
Reflecting on the opportunity Caroline Cowley noted, “This is an exciting time to join the Arts Office and to contribute to the next phase of Public Art in Fingal. We have built a strong reputation for being artist-centred in our commissioning approach—pushing boundaries, working across artforms, and fostering meaningful connections between communities and place through both the process and the outcome.
Since its inception, the programme has evolved to include three distinct commissioning strands: Per Cent for Art, Strategic Infrastructure, and Private Commercial & Residential Commissioning.
With a significant archive of works by exemplary artists, Fingal continues to approach Public Art through deep listening, a strong sense of place and context, and a commitment to care. Our curatorial approach seeks to ensure that each project is delivered to the highest standard and resonates broadly across the county.”
