Fingal County Council Arts Office and MART Studio and gallery announce return of Graduate studio residency 2025-2026.

Fingal County Council Arts Office, in partnership with MART Studios and gallery announce the 2025-2026 MART Studio graduate residency. This opportunity aims to support the professional development of recent graduates from Fingal County Council with a fully funded studio space over 12 months beginning in January 2026.

Applications are open from 1st September 2025 until 1st October 2025.

Included in this award is a studio space for an individual artist at MART studios Harold's Cross. Studio rental, utilities, and administrative costs will be covered to help provide the artist with the time and space to develop their practice as well as opportunities to engage with other creatives.

In addition, the graduate artist will join a group exhibition to showcase their work at MARTs annual exhibition award show in 2026. An artist and materials fee from MART will be provided as part of their annual awards show for the recipient.

This residency will be offered to one graduate. The opportunity is part of a series of initiatives by Fingal Arts Office to promote and support the professional practice of emerging artists. It will provide an ideal environment for the development of creative projects, development of a graduate's practice and an opportunity to network with other artists.

Application are open to artists who have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in 2023, 2024 or 2025. Applicants may reapply if they were unsuccessful in previous years. The graduate must currently live in, be originally from or have studied in Fingal. Active usage and engagement with the studio residency are required by the recipient. Applications from individual artists of any discipline is welcome.

MART Studios graduate award

On announcement of this award, Fingal County Council Arts Officer, Sarah O’Neil said “We are delighted to see the return of the MART Studio Graduate residency award. This unique award provides an opportunity and a stepping stone for a recently graduated artist to start their career, with support from an established studio and gallery space.”

2024-2025 recipient of the award, Andrew Grace commented on the award. "This experience throughout the year has been amazing. The opportunity to get a space to create and research has been essential to the growth of my practice. Both Fingal Arts Office and MART have been hugely helpful to give stability for the year as a recent graduate, with the addition of getting to exhibit my work in the MART Award Show. These types of opportunities are essential to emerging artists and help guide emerging artists through new beginnings."

About Andrew Grace: 

Andrew, an artist and researcher, thrives through expansive research focusing closely on Queer Theory. Their practice expands understandings and continuously longs to question ideas. They work predominantly with video and sculpture, using post lens cultures to further expand definitions and ways of thinking.

About MART:

MART studios and gallery began in 2007 by Ciara Scanlan and Matthew Nevin. The aim to provide opportunities to creatives from all stages of their careers. Currently MART studios are one of the leading sustainable workspaces for the creative community in Dublin and Galway, with six studios facilitating multidisciplinary artistic work and over 150 members. These spaces promote the growth of artistic communities and engagement.
