Extension of prohibition notice at Malahide Beach

Following an incident notification from Uisce Eireann, and consultation with the HSE, Fingal County Council has extended the temporary bathing prohibition notice at Malahide Beach, placed on 8 June 2026, until 30 June 2026.

A compliance sample taken at Malahide Wastewater Treatement Plant breached emission limit values.

Uisce Eireann have  indicated that new treatment infrastructure will be delivered and installed to deliver further process improvement by the end of the month.

Although the location is not a designated bathing water area, it is a highly frequented beach and this measure is being implemented as a precaution to protect public health. The beach is still open to the public.

Members of the public can check for water quality at any of the monitored bathing waters in Ireland in advance by accessing the EPA website at Beaches.ie - Find the best lake and sea swimming near you or by checking the notice board at the entrance to the beach.
