“Do Not Swim” prohibition notice issued at Velvet Strand Portmarnock September 3rd

Following confirmation of an overflow during the heavy rainfall the temporary Prior warning notice in place at Velvet Strand beach, Portmarnock on 02 September 2025 will be replaced with a "Do Not Swim" notice, today 03 September 2025. Likely duration 4 days.
The beach will remain open, but beach users are asked to respect the ‘Do Not Swim’ notice as it has been put in place to ensure that the health of bathers is not compromised.
Members of the public can check for water quality at any of the monitored bathing waters in Ireland in advance by accessing the EPA website at www.beaches.ie or by checking the notice board at the entrance to each beach.
