Africa Day 2025 to be celebrated across Fingal

Get ready to celebrate Africa Day in Fingal on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of May. Africa Day is an annual worldwide celebration of the people, cultures, and potential of this wonderful continent. Fingal County Council Community Development Department, in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs/Irish Aid, is supporting three groups to celebrate Africa Day 2025.
Held on the 25th May each year, Africa Day is a chance for people to come together and celebrate the diversity of Africa. The events will showcase the many cultural aspects of Africa and embrace our shared heritage.

The Bold Woman Association will celebrate African cultures and traditions, featuring performances by African musicians, cultural dancers, and world cuisine. The event will be held in Swords Castle, Swords, on Saturday, 24th May from 12 pm to 5 pm.
The Balbriggan African Community will host an event featuring performances in music, dance, drumming workshops, and a variety of African dishes. In addition, there will be a presentation on ‘Place, Integration, and Identity,’ which aims to recognise the accomplishments of African youths. The event will be held at Flemington Community Centre, Balbriggan on Saturday, 24th May from 1 pm to 5 pm

The Children For World will celebrate ‘Fruit Fest African’, a celebration of flavour and wellness with nutrition talks, African dances, and a networking fruit market. This event will be held at the Mulhuddart Community Centre, Dublin 15, on Sunday, 25th May, from 2 pm to 6 pm
Mayor of Fingal Cllr Brian McDonagh ‘With events happening all across the county, all of us in Fingal will have the chance to join in the Africa Day 2025 celebrations and enjoy the music and dance, the food and the rich cultures of our African friends and neighbours.’
Fingal Chief Executive Ann Marie Farrelly said ‘Supporting social inclusion and bringing people together is at the heart of what our Community Development Staff do throughout the year. Events like Africa Day are a great chance to connect with our African communities in Fingal and celebrate their vibrant native cultures with them.’
