Totem & Wigwam Workshops

These wonderful series of workshops will take 5+ kids on a  journey to transform their garden or green space into a wonderful summer play area for them and friends by showing kids and adults how to forage for materials and to create a highly decorative, colourful and creative Totem Pole and a wonderful, fun Wigwam to play all summer in.

9.00 a.m. Workshop One: Foraging for Materials - Aoife will take kids and parents into their local green areas, woods and laneways to carefully look for suitable materials for their totem and wigwam.

11.00 a.m. Workshop Two: Making your Totem Pole - This workshop will show kids how to clean, paint and put up their totem pole under parental guidance.

1.00 p.m. Workshop Three: Building a Wigwam - In this workshop kids and parents will build their Wigwam using their gathered materials. They will learn to weave, tie and support their wigwam so it lasts the whole Summer! 

3.00 p.m. Workshop Four: Decorating your Wigwam - Kids will learn how to decorate their wigwam using wool, string, paint and upcycling techniques.

Parental assistance is recommended throughout the video series. Awareness of nesting sites and sustainability will be addressed in the foraging workshop. A list of equipment suggestions are listed are below.

A list of tools below for parents (responsible adult) and a list of decorating materials: 

Video 1 - Secateurs

Video 2 - Light sandpaper, kids paints, paintbrushes  

Video 3 - Cable-ties or string, large screwdriver, tape measure 

Video 4 - Kids paints, string, ribbon, buttons, beads, bunting etc. 

All tools must be used by a responsible adult only.

This online event series is 'covid-conscious' to appeal to family units or pods, allowing parents and kids to work together and enjoy Cruinniú na nÓg in their own space.
