In this three-hour session, we will go from generating ideas, to outlining an essay, to covering the conventions and clichés of essay writing, and finally discussing publication opportunities in Ireland and abroad.
Have you got lots of ideas but can’t get them down on paper? Is your writing happening in fits and starts and going nowhere? Have you written in the past or would love to start to write now?
Is the choice of subject matter or ‘content’ crucial to the effectiveness of a poem? If so, how do we distil experience to find its poetic essence? And then, how do we develop what John Cage called the ‘field of possibilities’ that will make the poem happen in its most appropriate form?
