James Earley – The Butterfly Effect 2

James Earley - The Butterfly Effect

The Butterfly Effect is an artwork that primarily, celebrates the rich diversity of wildlife and flora & fauna in the locality of the Snugborough Underpass. It uses the anatomy of the orange tip butterfly as a springboard to articulate this in an accessible, engaging and memorable manner. The work seeks to encourage/draw walkers and cyclists alike to use the route and see the work as an additional element they can enjoy.

Conceptually, the work aligns itself with the greenway’s goals, to promote personal and ecological health in a mindful and active manner. Small changes can amount to huge changes if we all work together – think globally, act locally!

Biography

James Earley (b.1981), is an Irish artist who lives and works in Dublin, Ireland.  Earley’s practice is rooted in graffiti, graphic design and his family’s heritage in stained glass. He creates artworks that are timeless in their aesthetic and rich in their conceptual narrative.

The pieces are produced using digital tools to create analogue artworks. Fusing computer-aided fabrication with traditional hand-made techniques, he embraces technology to create complex, layered, highly charged compositions that reimagine the architectural principles and cannon of stained glass art.

Earley’s work deals with wide ranging themes of power, societal imbalances, religion, politics and ultimately, the inhumanity of man. His artworks are a visual meditation and reflection of these themes.
