You better watch out, Santa Claus is comin' to town

Santa is coming to Fingal

When the Halloween decorations come down this year they’ll be quickly replaced with elves, reindeer, tinsel and baubles, as Malahide gets set to welcome the arrival of Santa in November.

To kick off the festive season, the Malahide Santa Parade will take place on 27th November and the jolly man in red wants to make this year's event a sustainable green one. Organised by the Malahide Chamber, all local businesses and community groups in the area are being asked to get involved, with Fingal County Council encouraging participants to be carbon neutral as they make their way along the route down New Street to The Green.

Everybody is welcome to come along and enjoy festivities, with street performers and music filling the air on New Street from 3.30pm on Sunday 27th November to await Santa’s arrival.

Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Howard Mahony, said: “Fingal has always played a major role in supporting and assisting businesses, and we want to encourage people to shop locally around Christmas time. Doing so can help make a real difference for so many businesses. It’s great that we will be marking the start of the festive season in Malahide with the Santa Parade - I’m sure that no matter what age, everyone will have a great time and be sure that they’re not making the naughty list.”

President of Malahide Chamber Andrew Rittweger said: “Malahide Chamber of Commerce is delighted to welcome back Santa to the village of Malahide with support from Fingal County Council, to highlight the shopping opportunities in Malahide for gifts this Christmas from all our retail stores and our wonderful restaurants, cafés and superb service providers. We hope to have many local participants as possible as this is a fantastic opportunity for Malahide to come together to not only celebrate, but to showcase what our fantastic town has to offer.”
