Table Cricket Competition a Roaring Success Across Fingal

Cricket 4 All April 2025

On Tuesday, 29th April, the Indoor Arena at the National Sports Campus in Dublin 15 played host to an exciting table cricket competition for adults with additional needs, bringing together participants from Avista Adult Day Service Hubs across the Fingal region. The event was attended by Acting Mayor of Fingal Cllr John Walsh and run in partnership with Cricket Leinster and the Fingal County Council Sports Office. It was a celebration of inclusion, sport, and community, as over 50 people participated in friendly yet competitive table cricket matches.

Lisa Doyle from Avista hailed the event as a “roaring success,” praising the joy it brought to participants and the positive community spirit it fostered. “The smiles on everyone’s faces said it all. We’re already looking forward to making this a more regular event on our calendar,” she said.

Killian Molloy, the Fingal Cricket4All Coordinator commented on the scale and success of the event. “It was truly remarkable to see the fantastic numbers turnout to play table cricket, both competitively and recreationally. My thanks to the staff at Avista for participating in table cricket leaders courses and their work behind the scenes organising this fantastic event”

Naomi Scott Hayward, Disability, Inclusion and Participation Manager added how "It’s been fantastic to see Table Cricket thriving in Fingal. What stands out most is its sustainability. Avista is a perfect example - thanks to support from Cricket Leinster and the Lord's Taverners scheme, their staff have been fully trained and equipped to run the program. Cricket Leinster has empowered them with the skills and confidence to coach participants, as well as to umpire and score games, ensuring the sport continues to grow from within the community."

The event is part of Cricket Leinster’s ongoing efforts to promote diversity and inclusion through sport, highlighting the positive impact of table cricket and Cricket4All. It also marks another development for Cricket4All in the Fingal area, where work has already been done with Cricket4All: A Guide to Participation and the Cricket4All Pilot Project.
