Relaunch of Fingal Managing Volunteer Awards as part of national Volunteering Week

In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Fingal County Council Community Development Office and the Fingal Volunteer Centre are delighted to relaunch Fingal Managing Volunteers Award.

In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Fingal County Council Community Development Office and the Fingal Volunteer Centre are delighted to relaunch Fingal Managing Volunteers Award. The Award which focuses on promoting good volunteer management practice in community and voluntary organisations across Fingal was first launched back in 2011 by the Fingal Volunteer Centre and Fingal County Council.

The Award is intended to acknowledge groups who, through their commitment to voluntary and community activities, have played a significant role in enhancing the quality of life of their communities across Fingal. Volunteering can happen both informally and formally and the Fingal Managing Volunteer Award ensures that groups who wish to, or already involve volunteers in their work, have good volunteer management systems in place and are a safe and positive place to volunteer.

Since 2011, over 25 Fingal groups have completed and achieved the award. Fingal Managing Volunteers Award is open to any community and voluntary group based in Fingal.

‘It is not a coincidence that the award is being relaunched during the National Volunteering week which takes place from 15th to 21st of May 2023 and is a weeklong celebration of volunteering. Voluntary groups are the bedrock of our communities, and we encourage all group to participate in the scheme’”, said Daiga Martins Borges, Fingal Volunteer Centre

Sinead Wiley, Fingal County Council added, “We are delighted to be part of this scheme and acknowledge the support, training and resources provided by Fingal Volunteer Centre to groups working towards the Award. Similarly, we extend our sincere gratitude to all those volunteers and groups doing fantastic work across Fingal communities’’

Swords Tidy Towns has successfully achieved all three Fingal Managing Volunteers Awards. Ken Duffy, chairperson advised that “participation in the scheme was very informative and the support received improved how we managed and retained our volunteers”
