Prohibition notice for Rush North and South beaches lifted

Bathing water sample results returned this morning for Rush North and South beaches confirms that the water quality at both beaches are Excellent

Rush North Beach

We can confirm that bathing water sample results returned this morning for Rush North abd South beaches show that water quality at both beaches is Excellent.

With respect to the current level of risk of an overflow from the Tower Bay Pump Station, Uisce Eireann has clarified that the pump station operating without the backup of an operational standby pump, still has capacity to pump and manage all normal operational flows, and that the pumpstation operating has not overflowed on any occasion in 2026. Uisce Eireann further advises that the pump station and is equipped with high level alarms which are monitored 24/7.

Having consulted with the EPA and the HSE in relation to this clarification, it has been agreed that the Prohibition Notice on both beaches can now be lifted and that the beaches are replaced with a Prior Warning Notice due to the enhanced risk of an overflow.

Note this is strictly a precautionary measure and if an actual overflow does occur the Prior Warning Notice at the beaches will be replaced with a Prohibition Notice.
