Prior Warning Notice issued for Velvet Strand
Heavy rainfall may carry pollutants like bacteria into the sea. This can lead to an increase in bacteria levels in the water, posing a potential health risk to swimmers.

A prior warning has been issued for Velvet Strand in Portmarnock due to anticipated heavy rainfall and potential water quality issues.
The advisory is used as a precautionary approach to protect bathers’ health by advising of possible short-term pollution events. While the expected duration in this instance is for five days, we will update this information as soon as possible. Resamples have been arranged.
