New digital option makes it easier for Fingal tenants to pay rent
A new rent payment option has been launched to allow council tenants the flexibility to pay their rents online as part of an ongoing modernising of housing services.

Fingal County Council is enhancing its housing online service with the launch of a new rent payment option. This new addition will allow council tenants the flexibility to pay their rents online as part of an ongoing modernising of housing services.
Transforming local government online services will see 90% of local authority services available online by 2030 and radically changing how people interact with their council. The online rent payment option is a key milestone in the council’s digital journey, with a growing number of services increasingly being available at the touch of a button and accessible via mobile phones as the plan is implemented.
Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Tom O’Leary said: “Fingal has a user-friendly ethos and strives to make it easier for people to access services. Bringing more services online improves accessibility for everyone, enabling out-of-hours payments, 24/7 access, and faster responses that give tenants clarity and control over managing their rent. This is a fantastic service for tenants and staff alike.”

Existing rent payment methods remain unchanged to ensure inclusive access for all tenants. Council cash offices will continue to accept in-person payments (cash, cheque, card) and payments over the phone. Tenants can also use a Rent Card, available upon request, to pay at An Post offices and BillPay retailers. Standing orders and the Household Budget scheme remain active payment options.
The rent payment service is a significant addition to the Council’s digitisation strategy said Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, AnnMarie Farrelly: “This is a practical step that will make a real difference for tenants. By offering a safe, easy-to-use online option alongside our existing payment channels, we’re improving access and freeing up time—for residents and for our front-line teams. This is another milestone in our plan to deliver more services online and make every interaction with the Council simpler and faster.”
Director of Housing and Community Development, Paul Carroll, said: “We’re constantly innovating our approach to communication, and digital tools like these are some of the most effective ways of seeing to that. I’m excited to see this new rent payment option achieve widespread use and am confident it will be very useful for all council tenants, particularly those who face barriers accessing in-person services.”
The new service makes things easier for tenants with a safe, simple online option. To access it, users need their Rent Account number and email address; they can pay rent, view charges, and clear any arrears.
