Great success for Fingal Groups in 2025 Tidy Towns awards
Fingal County Council is delighted to congratulate all the TidyTowns committees on their continued success following the announcement of this year’s results.
Carrick-on-Shannon, Co.Leitrim was announced as the National Winner from over 900 Towns competing for the awards, demonstrating the huge interest in the Supervalu TidyTowns Competition which has been running since 1958.
All the dedicated committees across Fingal received higher scores than in 2024. Skerries was awarded County Second and a Gold Medal, while Malahide was awarded County Third and a Gold Medal. Swords was also awarded a Gold Medal, while Lusk, Rush and Balbriggan all received Bronze medals.
There was also success for Clonsilla, with the group receiving an Endeavour Award for the biggest improvement by an entrant in the county from the previous year, improving by 32 points on 2024. Howth TidyTowns was highly commended in the EPA Circular Economy award, with Malahide receiving second prize in this category.
Balbriggan was ranked top in the Regional Large Town/Large Urban Centre, Midlands & East Region in the Local Authority Pollinator Award category, with the local group also highly commended in the Young Persons in TidyTowns category.
Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Tom O’Leary said: "Congratulations to all our TidyTowns Groups who do such vital work in keeping our towns clean. Their work showcases the very best of our local communities. I was particularly pleased to see Skerries ranked County Second, just 5 marks behind the County Winner, and Malahide County Third. A huge well done also to Clonsilla who improved by a massive 32 points on last year".
Mary T Daly, Director of Operations in Fingal County Council added: "I would like to congratulate each and every Fingal TidyTowns group on their excellent marks this year. Fingal’s Operations Department will continue to work with and support all the volunteers in these groups. Their work is invaluable to our local areas and contributes to our sustainable development goals".
