Fingal County Council Sports Office has launched a free online programme called SportsCon 10@10 designed to keep kids active while in the classroom.

It involves 10 exercises focusing on balance, strength, mobility and motor skills performed for 10 minutes each day.

The 10 minutes of activity can be completed at any stage of the day to suit the class schedule, and interesting physical activity facts are included to exercise the mind as well as the body.

The exercises are closely aligned with Fingal’s Sports Conditioning programme, complement the P.E curriculum and are a great idea for Active Flag School Challenges.

Mayor of Fingal Cllr David Healy said: “Physical activity has many benefits for children, including health, emotional wellbeing and social and intellectual development.

“10@10 allows teachers and students to enjoy these benefits in a fun, accessible and convenient way, and I look forward to its adoption”.

Fingal County Council Director of Services for Housing and Community Margaret Geraghty said: “Teachers are much more restricted at present in terms of where and when they can deliver P.E. sessions.

“10@10 hopes to alleviate some of these challenges and assist teachers with new ideas to help children stay active in the classroom with fun exercises along with an educational element.”
