Fingal County Council Libraries Department is delighted to announce the introduction of a new Fingal Mobile Library stop at Castleknock Community Centre which takes place every second Thursday afternoon from 3:15pm – 4:15pm. The new stop was officially announced on Thursday 27 October with a visit from the Mayor of Fingal Cllr. Howard Mahony, County Librarian Betty Boardman and Senator Emer Currie.

The new library stop was added in September to the Fingal Mobile Library schedule following a request from the community.  The mobile library vans are a valuable service to those with limited access to public transport. They also play an important role in developing neighbourhoods and communities.

The Mayor of Fingal, Cllr. Howard Mahony commented:

“I am very pleased to see the new Fingal Mobile Library stop being added to the Dublin 15 area. Libraries are an extremely valuable resource to communities across Fingal in particular the Fingal Mobile Library service. The fleet of mobile vans are a huge asset for Fingal County Council, ensuring all residents have access to reading and information materials that are available at local branches”.

Fingal Libraries County Librarian, Betty Boardman remarked:

“The new Fingal Mobile Library stop at the Castleknock Community Centre has been very well received particularly by those who may be more isolated or do not have immediate access to books. Our friendly and experienced library staff are there to ensure that everyone who visits the mobile library vans get the greatest enjoyment and benefit from their visit.”

Senator Emer Currie added:

“It’s vitally important that people, young and old, have access to free books in their community. The mobile library is a fantastic way for people who can’t easily get to Blanchardstown Library to still benefit from the joy of reading. My children love the novelty of the mobile library, which all helps in encouraging them to read. Thank you, Fingal County Council and Castleknock Community Centre, for making this happen.”
