Fingal gets set for a Safe and Spooktacular Halloween

As Halloween approaches, Fingal County Council is encouraging residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly with a range of measures and activities in place to help people of all ages celebrate responsibly this October.


With nearly 50 events taking place across Fingal, this year’s programme offers residents of all ages opportunities to celebrate Halloween in a fun, inclusive and safe environment. From magical shows to fancy-dress discos and pumpkin carving, there is something for everyone.

Led by Fingal County Council's Community Development and Inclusion Office, the 2026 Safer Halloween Programme supports local groups in delivering enjoyable, community-based activities while promoting safe celebrations. As Halloween approaches, Fingal County Council is encouraging residents to make it a greener celebration by reusing decorations, swapping costumes, or getting creative and making their own. Those who are heading out after dark are advised to bring a torch and stay visible.


Local Fingal libraries are getting into the Halloween spirit with a packed programme of spooky storytelling, creative arts and crafts, and family-friendly fun. Be sure to book early with your local library to avoid disappointment out. Find out more here.


Fingal is delighted to once again be a hub for Ireland Home of Halloween, celebrating Ireland as the birthplace of Samhain. Building on a successful debut in 2025, Fingal's Events and Tourism teams have created a magical programme of Halloween experiences including Pumpikns After Dark experience, The Festival of Fire fireworks display and a range of folklore inspired events bringing heritage, storytelling and seasonal fun to venues across the county. More details can be found here.

Through the Safer Halloween Programme, we are supporting a wide range of activities that give young people and families positive ways to celebrate while helping to reduce some of the risks associated with the season. These initiatives play an important role in promoting safety, protecting our environment and ensuring Halloween remains an enjoyable experience across Fingal.”


To help ensure a safe and enjoyable Halloween for everyone, Fingal County Council is encouraging residents to support local efforts to prevent illegal bonfires and the burning of waste. The Council spends approximately €150,000 annually repairing and cleaning up bonfire-related damage and asks anyone who notices materials being stockpiled to contact 01 890 5000 or email:
