Fingal County Council’s Chief Executive appointed as HSE Director General
The Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, Paul Reid, has been appointed as the new Director General of the Health Service Executive. He will leave his position on May 13 after the final monthly meeting of the current Council.
Announcing his departure to councillors and staff today, Mr Reid said: “It is both an honour and a privilege to have been appointed to such an important role that impacts on the lives of everyone in the state. However, it will certainly be with a heavy heart that I will leave Fingal County Council. I can say for sure that being in the role as Chief Executive of Fingal, for the past five years, has been the best and most fulfilling job that I have had in my career to date. I have had the opportunity to make an impact on the quality of life of all of the people, business and communities of Fingal that we servePublic Appointments Service recruit Mr Reid’s successor.
“We have achieved a lot over the last five years. I was delighted when I came in 2014 to find a body of councillors who were committed to the Council’s vision of making Fingal the place of choice in Ireland to live, work, visit and do business. Over the past five years there was always a willingness to find the best solution for the people of Fingal.
“The quality, commitment and calibre of staff in Fingal made my job extremely rewarding. Fingal County Council is highly respected across a whole range of stakeholders for being a highly innovative and “can do” council.
“I have been truly honoured to hold this position and I hope that I too have played my part, along with the elected members and our excellent staff, in making this such a great county.”
Mr Reid will lead the Executive into the Council meetings in April and May before a new Council is elected on May 24. An interim Chief Executive will be appointed shortly to lead the Council while the
